Sylvia Park Apartments

At Total Tactilez, we deliver high-quality tactile and safety solutions that prioritise public safety while maintaining a sleek and professional aesthetic. One of our recent, notable projects was at the new Sylvia Park apartments in Auckland called Resido.

Our team was called upon to collaborate with trusted clients such as Flooring Junction, Lovich Floors, and Hills Commercial Floors. Together, we ensured that the stairways and walkways were equipped with the latest in tactile and safety products, enhancing both accessibility and safety for all visitors.

The scope of the project

The task was substantial- installing around 1000 meters of Tredfx SBR103 stair nosings and TacStud SH10N tactile stainless steel studs. The TacStud Yellow Polyurethane Studs were used on the outdoor entrance steps & stairs.

Tredfx SBR103 stair nosings: These stair nosings provide slip resistance, especially in wet conditions, ensuring safety across the facility's numerous stairways. Their durability and easy maintenance made them a perfect choice for a busy area like this apartment block.

TacStud SH10N stainless-steel tactile studs: These tactile indicators play a critical role in assisting visually impaired individuals by providing a tactile surface they can detect with their feet or a cane. The stainless-steel finish was chosen for its longevity, corrosion resistance, and ability to blend seamlessly with the modern design of Sylvia Park. The TacStud SH10N were used as service marker tactile indicators in the plaza forecourt area. Were chosen for their low profile and blend in feature to the surrounding area, but providing a critical indicator to services beneath the pavements.

Challenges and successes

The scale of the project presented unique challenges. With approximately 1000 meters of stair nosings to install and countless tactile indicators to fit, our team worked in close coordination with Flooring Junction, Lovich Floors, and Hills Commercial Floors to meet tight deadlines and maintain the highest quality standards.
